Popular Asante Price Promotion now Twice Annually
The African domain name sector will no doubt look forward to every September and February from now on after the ZA Central Registry (ZACR) NPC and its Registry Africa subsidiary announced that its Asante promotion will now take place twice every year.
Formerly an annual price promotion intended to thank their Registrar and Reseller (RaR) partners for their pivotal contribution towards growing the local domain name industry, the doubling of the promotion reflects ZACR and Registry Africa’s continued support for RaR’s.
Each one-month sale is focused on the only four African gTLD’s on the continent; namely dotAfrica, dotJoburg, dotCapetown and dotDurban.
As Africa’s leading Registry Operator, we believe our reseller partners should be rewarded for their valued support stretching back over three decades
“As Africa’s leading Registry Operator, we believe our reseller partners should be rewarded for their valued support stretching back over three decades. We look forward to saying Asante Sana to them twice a year with the next sale taking place from 01 September to 30 September 2019,” says Lucky Masilela, ZACR and Registry Africa CEO.
“Without the RaRs who retail the lion’s share of African gTLDs to domain name users, ZACR-administered domain names would not have surpassed the current total,” added Mr Masilela.
According to Mr Masilela, the “Triple R” model adopted in 2010 with RaRs as a key component is the reason South African boasts the highest number of Africa’s domain name registrations coupled with the lowest cost on the continent. The Triple R Model is based on the separation of functions and responsibilities by the Regulator, the Registry Operator and the different Registrar and Reseller partners.
The focused approach of this model and having every player concentrating on what they do best has seen the emergence of a South African DNS industry where resilience, reliability and affordability reign supreme with the consumer as the winner.
“We will continue to invest in RaRs as they are key to the continued growth and development of Africa’s healthiest domain name sector,” concluded Mr Masilela.
